There was a time a few years ago where I had all my fall/Halloween decorations out by mid-September.
Either I've gotten really lazy or my hatred for clutter has dissuaded me from decorating for the past couple years. (Don't get me wrong, I hate clutter but my house is constantly messy. Which is probably why I've shied away from getting more stuff out. I can't handle it!)
As a result, our Halloween festivities were pretty minimalistic this year!
Ryan's mom came the 2nd weekend in October and I had grand plans of going to the pumpkin patch and enjoying the beautiful fall weather. It rained the ENTIRE time she was here! No joke!
Every weekend after that either involved us being sick or busy with other things so the family pumpkin patch trip didn't happen.
Luckily, Colin's class was taking a field trip to Eckert's and I got to tag along!
It was a gorgeous day and we had so much fun hanging out together! Colin was allowed to pick his very own pumpkin out and I went ahead and bought a bigger one for us to carve.
We did our carving last week. Colin designed his and I decided I wanted one with a mustache. We also roasted our pumpkin seeds. Colin was so dedicated to that task! They'd done it at school last year and he was so excited! He pulled a bunch of seeds out of the guts and washed them off. They were delicious! We'll definitely have to keep that tradition going.
I found this bat hat at Target last week and couldn't resist it!
Halloween night was freezing! I made chili, corn bread, and dirt and worms. My parents came over for dinner then stayed home with Brody to pass out candy while we took the older two out. We didn't last very long. After the first four houses we had to stop back home to get Peyton a coat. We went back out for a little bit. The kids didn't seem to mind that we didn't get very far. By the time we got home they were ready to get inside and warm up!
Colin was a white ninja, Peyton was a princess, and Brody was Robin.
{Peyton even let me put a couple braids in her hair! She kept saying it looked like Anna from Frozen. When I was braiding the second side she was feeling around for the first braid and was like "Where is it? Ohhh, there it is!" I also decided to put some eye makeup on her. I thought she'd love it because she's obsessed with lipstick. It was so much fun and she was so cute while we were putting it on. Of course, she'd smeared the mascara by rubbing her eyes before we even put her costume on. Oh well!}
His mask is my favorite part!
Onto November.
Holy Moly!
