Colin Funnies

Colin's been doing funny things all the time (like always!) and I thought I better write them down before I forget!

*Last night I put him to bed and about 30 or 40 minutes later I heard him up there talking. I wondered what he was up to so I went upstairs and listened outside his door. It sounded like he was talking gibberish so I opened his door. He was super smiley and giggly. He was like "What are you doing?" I said "Coming to check on you, what are you doing?" He said "Colin was getting a drink." I asked him who he was talking to. He said matter-of-fact: "Joshie called me."

*We were reading a book before bed last night and I turned the page in his book and Colin was like "That's beautiful!" He was talking about the picture. I about died laughing!

*Colin's take on the baby's name. This is something my mom posted on my facebook the other day:
He is a sweetheart ... now if he could just get the names down -- not sure I want a grandson named Ape! What's he say for the girl name?...Update ... after consulting Colin, if the baby is a girl, she will also be known as Ape ... by her big brother.

Hopefully once we know what the baby is he can just get used to calling it by the real name rather than Ape!

*{This isn't funny, just cute!} Earlier this week he was talking to the baby in my belly and then he asked if he could give it hugs and kisses. It was so cute!!

I'm sure I'm forgetting things but if I remember any I'll do another post!

Batter Up

While the rest of the nation is focused on the {March} Madness, it's baseball time here in the Doubrava household!! I had a baby shower to go to today so Ryan and Colin went to the store and got Colin his very own baseball bat. This is what greeted me when I returned home:

The boys in their "uniforms"--I'm still trying to figure out why Colin needs his coat on as part of his uniform?! And Ryan is evidently color blind :)

Colin's comment about his 'baseball pants': "I've got my eye on you!"

Ryan had told Colin last night that they were going to get his baseball bat today. It was the first thing he said to me when he woke up this morning. He picked out 'The Sandlot' to watch this morning and while it was on he ran upstairs and changed from his PJ's into jean shorts and a t-shirt....we've watched 'The Sandlot' about 4 times today!

Some action shots:

We didn't get any pictures of them but he actually had some good hits!!

We have also discovered that Dad has to be the pitcher because Mom's a belly itcher!! *And check out this depressing scene:

It was in the 60's and 70's last week and part of this week and today it SNOWED!!!

Bring back the warm weather!!!

What a Funny Boy

Ryan picked up Colin from my parents tonight because he left work before I did (he actually ended up passing me on the highway which was kind of funny). He had his jacket on when he walked in the door so I could only see that he had shorts on over his jeans which made me laugh. It was even funnier when he took his jacket off and had a sleeveless shirt (his basketball shirt) on over his regular shirt. He's such a goofball!!

I'm so excited it's the weekend!! It's been a really great week and I love my new clinical site but I'm EXHAUSTED by the time I get home. I'm working on the orthopedic floor which I love. I have hip, knee, and back patients. It takes me about 50 minutes to an hour to get there in the morning and anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour to get to my moms at night. By the time Ryan, Colin, and I all get home I feel like I'm ready for bed! I'm really exited for the next 5 weeks there. I'm sure it will go by super fast!!

On the baby front: I know it's still a little bit early but I feel like I've been feeling flutter kicks. It started about 2 weeks ago. It's not every day but I felt it for a good 15 minutes during lunch today. Even if it's not the baby I like to think it is!!

Fashion Show

Colin got a package full of clothes from my grandma today so we decided to have a fashion show! She got him shorts and a shirt that match the hoodie in the last picture for Valentines Day but they didn't have the hoodie in the right size at that time. She had them order it in his size so when she went back to pick it up she got a few extras as well! They're all so cute!! Colin's smiles crack me up in these pictures!

How adorable are the little flip flops?!

I love them :)

He's definitely well stocked for our trip to Florida!

Tonight when he was taking his bath I was washing the bubbles out of his hair and he said "The water's running down my back. It's warm and cozy!" He is so funny! I love him!!!!

I Love to See the Temple

Today we decided to drive out to the hospital where I'm doing my next clinical so I know where I need to go on Monday. It happens to be right out by the temple so we decided to go there so we could take Colin to see it! It was so much fun to be able to spend some time together as a family. Colin kept asking us if we could see Jesus. He was like "We need to climb the stairs so we can go see Jesus." We tried to explain to him that we could feel his presence there but that we couldn't see him. Ryan finally had to tell him that Jesus wasn't home right now. Colin was like "Okay, he will come back." When we were walking out I pointed out the flowerbeds to Colin and he asked if he could pick a flower. I told him that he couldn't and he was like "Are they Jesus' flowers?" He's such a cutie pie!!!

Beep

Ryan was trying to talk to me last night and Colin's not always the most accommodative for that. Usually as soon as Ryan starts talking to me Colin starts yelling. I think it bugs Ryan more than it bugs me but then I get mad at Ryan because he yells at Colin--it's a vicious cycle! So last night I told Colin that I would put a little bit of time on the clock and Ryan was allowed to talk to me until it beeped. Once it beeped it was time for Ryan and Colin to play together. He thought it was so fun to sit in front of the clock and wait for it to beep!

I got a small glimpse of Colin not being so excited about a new baby today. We went over to my cousins house to see my aunt. She was watching Nolan. Nolan was holding onto my hand as he stood up and Colin marched over, sat in my lap, and exclaimed "That's MY MOM!!!" As soon as Nolan let go of my hand Colin pulled my arm into my lap so Nolan couldn't touch me anymore. Hopefully he gets over that in the next 6 months!

He was so funny at my moms earlier. He was looking through her scriptures and told me and mom to go into the sun room so we could go to church with him. He was like "Mommy, come over here and go to church with me. I will take you to nursery." Then he was carrying the scriptures around and pretending like he was a missionary. It was so cute!!

I had a doctors appointment today and heard the heartbeat. We'd seen it on the ultrasound but last time we'd tried to listen with the Doppler it was too early and we couldn't hear anything. It's always a relief to hear that heart beating!!! And P.S. Happy Birthday to my brother Josh!!! We love you!

Little Buddies

Kim and Garrison came over this afternoon to hang out. Colin had so much fun with Garrison! He kept wanting to pat his head which made me laugh! He turned on a movie and was sitting on the couch with me but wanted to switch couches to sit next to Garrison. He made sure that Garrison was all covered up with his blanky and when Garrison was chewing on a fish toy he told him not to because he was afraid he'd choke (it was a big toy, he wasn't in jeopardy of choking!) Garrison liked to look at Colin. He's such a smiley boy!!

Garrison had some huge smiles but I couldn't quite get a picture of it!! He's so cute!

I think Colin will be a GREAT big brother!!!

It's About Time-

-I added some more pictures on here!

I haven't taken any in awhile but since I haven't posted in awhile I decided we needed to take some tonight so I've got something to put on here. Sorry they're not more exciting!
They made a fort out of pillows

Belle wanted to get in on the action

Colin was making a race car out of Lego's

Funny face

My clinical ended on Friday. It went by really fast. There were definitely times I couldn't wait for it to be over but I was really sad to leave Friday afternoon! We've got class Mon, Wed, Fri this week and then my last clinical starts next week. I'm excited for it to all be over soon!

Colin's doing pretty good these days. He's kind of in the terrible threes stage right now. I'm pretty sure 3 is worse than 2! He says he wants to do something (like say the prayer at bedtime), we tell him to do it and he just sits there. Then he cries when one of us says the prayer. It happens at other times too and it's super annoying. He's still so funny and so cute though so it's hard to be mad for too long!

~Ryan didn't feel good yesterday. I was telling Colin about it after his nap and he said "Daddy will be okay. He will go to the doctor and then he will feel better. You can take him to the doctor."

~On Saturday Colin and I went to the grocery store. On the way over I told him that I had school this week but not at the hospital anymore and that next week I go to a different hospital. He asked if he could go with me. He then told me "Colin will take you there in my race car. You will sit in my spot and I will sit in Daddy's spot. Colin will open your door for you." He's such a sweetie!!

~I think Colin's starting to understand about the baby. After we had my ultrasound I made a copy of the pictures for him to keep in his room. I asked him what they were pictures of and he said "The baby. You will be the baby's Mommy and Daddy will be the baby's Daddy." I was like "Yeah, what are you going to be?" He said "Colin is going to be the big football team."--still on the football/baby kick!
