The Things They Say

It's no secret that I've been a horrible blogger this year.
Which means I've forgotten lots of the funny things the kids have been saying.
I'm trying to get back on track!
I've started to keep a list of them on my phone as soon as they happen--hopefully that will help!

So here goes!

*Back when Colin was still in school Peyton cut up one of his pictures with her pencil and said "Colin will be so mad at me!"

*I got Ryan some new cologne when I was at Kim's. He let Colin use some- so one day when he was getting ready for church Colin said "Dad, I want to put that man smell on me!"

*One morning Peyton woke up and came down to our bed. Ryan was ready to leave for work but she asked if she could have some milk. Ryan asked her where it was and she said upstairs so he told her she needed to go up to get it. I said "I'm not sure if she has any." To which she responded: "Nooooo, I don't want to throw up! I need new milk!" Apparently I've told her quite a few times not to drink milk that hasn't been in the the fridge for awhile because it will make her sick!

*Ryan was outside painting Peyton's new (Colin's old) bed and she went up to him and said "Daddy, I'm going to be sooo nice to you!
He said "You are?! Why?"
Peyton: Will you go swimming with me?

She may not always be nice to him but she knows what she needs to do to get him wrapped around her finger!

*One night at dinner Peyton kept scooping corn onto her plate. I told her to stop because she had enough corn and she said "Who's going to stop us?"

*Colin's pretty obsessed with American Ninja Warriors. He and Ryan were working out tonight and Colin said "I think Sam isn't going to marry Ryan...because I'm so manly!!!"

There's definitely never a dull moment with these two!

Family Fun at my Cousin's Wedding

My cousin got married a few weeks ago and we had so much fun at the wedding!
It was at a winery about 30 minutes away and was so pretty! It did rain off and on that day but they had a tent set up so we were all good!

Peyton fell asleep on the way over. I was positive she'd wake up as we were walking there from the car but she didn't. She slept on Ryan during the whole ceremony. He enjoyed the cuddle time!

Ryan's girlfriend came with us- the kids were so excited! In fact, that's how I bribed Peyton into letting me do my hair! I told her if we didn't do pigtails she couldn't see Sam!
Ryan was able to get this shot after the rain stopped!
2 handsome boys!

Peyton did not want to participate in our family photo!
At least she's in the background!
A little fun in the rocks- Peyton found a piece of sidewalk chalk in there--random!
It was a fun day to spend with each other and the rest of our family!
I sure do love this family of mine!

Trip to Kim's!!!

Before Kim even left to move to New Jersey we were pretty much planning my trip out there!
Thankfully I have a husband who understands how important this was to me and didn't complain when I said I wanted to leave for almost a week!
With all the crazy things happening in our lives this year I wasn't sure when the best travel time would be.
I finally decided that I would leave the day after Colin's last day of school. That way if we ended up moving to Texas the kids and I would still be here because we were going to stay until the end of the school year anyway. It was also a plus that we'd already be living at my parents and the fact that school was over meant that my mom wouldn't have to worry about getting him to and from school while I was gone--because let me tell you, that drive got old fast!!!

So FRIDAY morning Ryan dropped me off at the airport on his way to work. I was sad to say goodbye to him and the kids but SO EXCITED to see Kim after almost 6 months. (Face Time and talking on the phone just isn't the same as being together)! I had the perfect flight- it was nonstop and I landed in Newark at 12:30 which gave us most of the day to hang out! The airport's a little less than an hour from her house so we stopped for lunch at Longhorn on the way home. That afternoon we just hung out and relaxed. We went on a walk around the neighborhood that night and talked until it was time for bed. We couldn't stay up too late because we had a big day planned Saturday!

SATURDAY we headed into New York City!!! Our favorite place! As soon as I bought my plane tickets to come out Kim got us tickets to see Wicked on Broadway! She'd never seen it before and it is my absolute favorite so I knew it was a must do activity! We took the train from Jersey into Penn Station- it was about an hour and 15 minute ride. Our first stop was John's Pizza- our pizza place! Seriously so good!
We headed over to Wicked which was amazing as expected! Being pregnant has some definite perks! When we gave the usher our tickets to be seated he told me how to get to the handicapped bathroom during intermission so I wouldn't have to wait in the long line for the regular restroom. It was awesome! Those lines for women's bathroom's are so long!
Before we left Kim asked someone if the actors ever came out to sign autographs. We got the skinny that you can go to the stage door outside the theater and wait for them. We weren't quite sure where the stage door was so we ended up waiting in the wrong place for a little bit-which means we missed a couple people. But we eventually figured out where we needed to be! We were able to get Elpheba's autograph which is super exciting because she was amazing! I even got my picture with her! (bottom right on the collage).

After Wicked we headed to Central Park to walk around. It was gorgeous out and we had so much fun walking around and people watching. At one point we sat on a rock and watched roller skaters for about half an hour. They were just in the middle of the park dancing and skating. It was so fun!
We were going to go to this really great soul food place we'd gone to last year but the Subway wasn't running uptown from where we were and we didn't feel like going back downtown and then uptown again. So we headed back towards Times Square and ate at the Shake Shack which was delicious! Then we walked around Times Square and did some shopping. We got the kids some presents at the Disney Store.
{28 week preggo shot}
SUNDAY was our lazy day! We were plum-tuckered out after our adventures in the city! We skipped church, watched movies, and took naps. That night we played outside for a little bit and enjoyed the beautiful weather. It was the perfect R&R day!

MONDAY morning we laid out in the backyard. Mike was able to get off work around lunch time so we went out to eat at their favorite diner about 5 minutes from their house. It was so good! After lunch we dropped the boys back off at home then Kim and I headed to Ikea in Philadelphia. When I told Ryan I went to Philly he asked if I saw the Liberty Bell--nope, just Ikea...and a Wendy's whose chocolate machine was broken which meant no frosty's for us :(

TUESDAY we headed to the beach! It was the perfect beach day! Super sunny, not too hot, great breeze, not too crowded! It was so much fun! The beach is definitely another one of my happy places! We stayed until 5 then went to a Surf Taco restaurant for dinner which was delicious! That night after the boys went to bed we watched TV and relaxed!

WEDNESDAY morning we relaxed then got ready to head back to NYC again. As soon as Mike got home we were off! We wanted to try to win the lottery to a play and set our sights on If/Then which is a new musical starring Idina Menzel-- who voices Elsa in Frozen. We didn't win the lottery but were first in line for discount tickets after the lottery so we were able to get 2 together! We went to McDonald's in Times Square to kill some time and have a snack before the show.
The play was really good! Everyone did a great job! It was a cool premise about 2 different directions her life could have gone if something had/had not happened. Idina's voice is amazing! Of course we had to get autographs afterwards again! We were told Idina was going to come out but she never did--huge bummer! But we got everyone elses autograph! And that guy on the bottom left- he was in a movie with Channing Tatum which makes us feel like we basically know Channing by association! {We may be a little crazy!}
THURSDAY was my last day--it came way too fast! We got ready and I packed everything up then we headed to an Amish flea market. I was able to score some of Ryan's favorite cologne for a great price! After browsing we had lunch in the restaurant. On our way to leave I checked my emails and saw that my flight was delayed about 2 hours which was great because that meant we didn't have to leave for the airport as quickly as anticipated! So we went to get ice cream then back home to relax for a bit before the drive to the airport. Since I left late Mike got home in time to come with us- which was good so Kim didn't have to drive back by herself during rush hour!
It was an amazing trip that went by way too fast! Sometimes it's hard when your best friend lives a million miles away but we had such a great reunion! We're already counting down the days until we're reunited once again!

End of May: Memorial Day, Anniversary, Kindergarten Graduation

This is what happens when you start to neglect your blog:
A)You barely have any posts for the whole year.
-Seriously, the total number of posts on my blog for the whole year so far is about what I'd have by the beginning of March in a normal year...my poor blog book will be so skinny this year :(

B)When you do post you have to lump a bunch of subjects together just to get caught up.
-Which means you're definitely forgetting all the funny little comments and stories about the kids that made me love blogging in the first place. Which in turn makes you feel like a great big slacker!

C)You spend an exuberant amount of time transferring pictures from your phone and making collages in order to get your pictures on the blog so your yearly blog book isn't lacking in the photos at the end of the year.

I'm a little worried about the future of this blog after the baby's born if I can't even keep up with it now! But, hopefully now that things are starting to calm down in our life I'll be able to get back on track! We'll see!

I honestly don't even remember Memorial Day weekend this year so I'll spare you the details.
I'm pretty sure swimming was involved and I know the kids and I went to Fairview Ward's pancake breakfast Monday morning with my mom and brother while Ryan went golfing (My Dad had to fly back to D.C. that morning so he missed the breakfast as well).

I also know that our 8th anniversary fell on Memorial Day so that night my mom watched the kids while Ryan and I went to dinner at Outback, browsed at Target, and had ice cream at Coldstone- a tradition that started on our double dates with the Mohlman's and we have had to continue without them now that they've moved away :(

But 8 years! What a long time that is ;)
I'm so grateful to have this man by my side and for all the love and support he shows me! He's a great father and great husband...I think I'll keep him around!
The Wednesday after Memorial Day was Colin's Kindergarten graduation!
He was so excited! He laid out his clothes the night before and wanted to wear Uncle Ryan's graduation hat! When I got up that morning he asked if I was going to make him a "'gradulations sign" (congratulations), so of course I had to oblige!
For some reason he would not smile during their presentation! I'm assuming it was stage fright?!
I stayed at school after I dropped him off to help set up and Mom, little Ry, Peyton, and Sam came afterwards to watch graduation with us.
Getting his diploma from Miss Auer and the principal
Colin even picked out Peyton's outfit for the day!
His last day of school was on Thursday. So Wednesday afternoon we headed to Lowe's to pick out a flower pot and some flowers for Miss Auer. He decorated the pot with his hand prints and wrote: From Colin, To Miss Auer, Thank you! 2013-14
She loved it!
He also wanted to give her some chocolates because:
"Chocolate and flowers go good together....someone else already brought her chocolate but ours will be fancier!"

We will really miss Westhaven next year! Sometimes I get the mom guilt about making him switch schools but I'm hopeful that we'll love his new school just as much as we've loved this one and that he'll make great friends!
I told him he could pick where we had dinner that night in honor of his last day of school. He, of course, picked McDonald's!!!
We also got ice cream afterwards at Dairy Haven!
Can't believe this sweet boy will be in 1st grade next year!
