2 Year Stats

Colin had his 2 year old check-up a couple weeks ago. He did great at the appointment and didn't need any shots which is always happy!! His stats are:

29 pounds--- 63rd percentile
35 1/4 inches--- 72nd percentile
and his head size (which I don't think is very exciting) 19 inches---39th percentile

Colin's absolutely great!! He continues to learn so many things every day and is such an absolute joy. We've gotten him to watch a couple other movies besides Cars (Up, An American Tale, Elmo) but it continues to be his favorite! He loves to run around ALL THE TIME!!! The other night he was doing laps around the kitchen table, saying: "fast"!!

On Thursday he came down with a fever and had it for a couple days. That night when I was trying to move him from his floor to the bed he woke up and wouldn't go back to sleep. I cuddled with him for 20 minutes and he still got out of his bed when I left the room. I told Ryan I was worried about him sleeping all night on the floor (since you sometimes feel achy when you're feverish) so I ended up sleeping with him in the guest room. Every night since then (with the exception of Friday night because I wasn't home at bedtime) he has started BAWLING and saying "momma- room. momma- bed". He wants to sleep with me so bad but I don't want to make it a habit. I feel horrible though!! Last night was a little better than Saturday so hopefully tonight will be even better!

I had our blog printed into a book and I absolutely LOVE IT!!! I'm not much of a scrapbooker and this is really how I keep a record of the things that happen in our family. Since I started the blog at the end of '08 I did from then up through 2009. My plan is to print it out every year from now on so we've got all of them!! I did it on blog2print.com It was super-easy and very reasonably priced. Had I actually taken the time to scrapbook all this stuff it would have taken forever and cost so much more! I'm very excited and if it's something you're thinking about doing (or didn't know you could) I would definitely recommend it!!!

P.S. You can have them printed in soft-back or hard-back- I did hard because I think it looks nicer and will last longer!

Obsessed

Colin is OBSESSED with the movie Cars. He used to not even sit still for a little while. On Monday, we watched Cars like 5 times in a row! I knew we might have a problem today when I was in my bathroom getting ready. I had brought Cars up to the loft so Colin was upstairs with me. He had come into the bathroom with me but we could still hear the movie. When he heard a specific song come on he told me what was happening in the movie and went running off to see it..that happened more than once!! He cracks me up!!! We've also been watching Elmo lately and have watched Up one and a half times--at least he's branching out a little! I must admit though, even though I've seen Cars about a billion times I'm still not sick of it! I love it!!

On January 2nd we went to our friends wedding and it was a lot of fun! Since we were all dressed up and looking nice I figured we should take lots of pictures!

Best Buddies

Colin really likes playing with Ryan. I think he got a little bit used to him being home during the holidays because every day when he wakes up he says "daddy" and I have to tell him that daddy is at work. Then he says "phone" and we go call Ryan--even though Colin won't talk on the phone!! Here they are watching Cars one night.

P.S. I would like to interject a funny story though! Every night Ryan and I go into Colin's room together to change his diaper and say prayers before bed and then one of us stays in there to cuddle for a little bit. We usually take turns but Colin has become pretty fond of me doing the cuddling (I think it's because I sing songs and Ryan claims to not know any)! A couple nights ago Ryan laid down in my spot to cuddle with Colin after his prayer. Colin waved to Ryan and told him "bye"! He cracks me up!

Happy Birthday, baby boy!!! I can't believe Colin's TWO already! It does not seem like that much time has gone by since our sweet boy came into the world! He had a pretty low-key day yesterday. We went to my parents house and ran some errands with my mom; were going to go out to eat but it was too cold to get out of the car again so we decided to drive thru Hardees. Then we went back to mom and dad's and ate and Colin took his nap.

I didn't even make him a nice birthday dinner last night because he wanted some rice! We hung out as a family last night, Colin had a bath and then we watched Cars--his new favorite past-time--we watch it about 50 times a day (or maybe we watched Elmo..I don't remember, he's going between the two right now)!!

We had his party today and it was a lot of fun! We are blessed with great family and great friends and are thankful to everyone who came out for Colin's special day!! He got some awesome new toys and clothes--thank you everyone!! Right now Colin's laying down for a nap and the house is quiet so I figured it was a good time to update!

I was going to try to be really good about getting pictures this year and take them of everyone who was here..but alas, that did not happen!! Oh well!

The Culmination of 2009

We've had a wonderful end of the year. I've got to say, I thought Christmas was pretty magical this year! Colin's at such a fun age right now and was so much fun watching him enjoy himself and open presents. He is quite the expert present opener! He knows exactly what to do but he's pretty neat about it too. He doesn't want to get the paper all over so he would rip some off and hand it to me before continuing on! We were pretty excited about Christmas and by about noon on Christmas Eve we couldn't take the anticipation anymore so we opened a few presents (by few I mean everything under the tree!!)-- it started out because we had cut Colin's hair and given him a bath and wanted him to open his new pajamas so he could wear them but once we started we couldn't stop!

That night we went over to my grandparents for the annual Christmas Eve dinner and gift exchange with my mom's side of the family. It was lots of fun and Colin did great staying up way past his bedtime!!

My aunt and uncle got Colin a cool tent--he thinks it's his fort! Ryan set it up Christmas Eve night so it was all ready when he woke up Christmas morning!!




My grandparents got all the dogs in the family "sleeping bags". Belle likes to lay on top of it but won't get in it. Colin, on the other hand, enjoys covering up with it!


On Christmas morning we got up and opened more presents (we hadn't wrapped all Colin's prior to Christmas Eve so they weren't under the tree when we opened everything that day). Then we went over to my parents to spend the day. I don't have any pictures from there though. It was lots of fun. Colin got to open MORE presents--the kid made out like a bandit! That night we were able to talk to my brother Jason who is still serving his mission in San Jose. It was a lot of fun to talk to him and we are so excited he'll be coming home THIS YEAR!!!

We've just been hanging out this week and enjoying our time together while everyone's home (Ryan worked Mon. and Tues. but has been home the rest of the week). Last night we went to my parents to celebrate New Year's Eve. We enjoyed chocolate fondue with a variety of fruit and pretzels and hot oil fondue to cook steak in (some people ate shrimp too, I, however, did not partake in that!) We also played a heated game of Taboo and finished out the night with Phase 10! It was a lot of fun! Colin stayed up the whole time!!! We were planning on spending the night so we could just put him down at a reasonable time but he was playing great and never got crabby. He ended up staying up until 12:45 and we came home to sleep in our own beds since he was still awake!
